We wanted to show that the work of scientists has an enormous impact and that their stories are fascinating, says Monika Vondráková, co-founder and CEO of the Neuron Foundation. Another round of the prestigious Neuron Awards, whose aim is to support Czech scientists and introduce them to a wider public, took place under her auspices in January.

Science is beautiful, important and beneficial for everyone. The Neuron Foundation has been convincing the public of that for more than a decade. The Neuron Awards, whose laureates receive not only a designer trophy but also significant financial support, are also announced every year under its auspices. In an interview for Vogue CS, the foundation's director Monika Vondráková explains how the attitude of Czech society to scientists has changed over the years, and mentions what could still be improved.
