The nomination process for the prestigious 2021 Neuron Awards for science is starting

The Neuron Endowment Fund is opening the nomination process for the prestigious Neuron Awards for science. The Neuron Awards are the most highly endowed science awards in the Czech Republic and come with a significant personal financial award for the laureates. Nominations are submitted by the Czech scientific community by the end of March 2021. The laureates receive awards in two categories, the Neuron Award for contribution to world science and the Neuron Award for young talented scientists

Nominations may be submitted by members of the expert scientific public, namely deans and rectors of public institutions, directors of academic institutes and representatives of the Academy of Sciences, members of the Neuron Scientific Board and laureates of previous years. Both the fund's Czech scientific board and an international board made up of outstanding scientists from all over the world take part in selecting the final laureates. The nomination process will run until the end of March 2021.

"In last year's Extraordinary Neuron Awards we quite exceptionally, in response to the coronavirus situation, honoured scientists who took part and take part in dealing with pandemics," says Monika Vondráková, chair of the administrative board of the Neuron Endowment Fund, and adds: "This year we are returning to our classic format. There are, after all, a great many outstanding scientists in the Czech Republic who deserve our attention and of whom we can rightly be proud." As in previous years, the Neuron Awards this year come with personal awards for the scientists. This year the scientists will be supported with a total of up to CZK 8 million from the resources of the fund's patrons.
