Podcast: With a physicist on why matter exists

In a new episode of the podcast the physicist Michal Malinský takes us from the beginnings of the universe, through its matter, to the immortality of the proton. The holder of a Neuron Impulse grant was the next guest on our partner podcast Brain We Are.

In 2013 Michal Malinský received a Neuron Impulse grant for further research in particle physics. He graduated from the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering of the Czech Technical University, defended two doctorates in particle physics and worked at world-class institutions such as the European Organization for Nuclear Research in Geneva. In 2009 he received an individual Marie Curie fellowship for a stay at the University of Valencia. He now works back in the Czech Republic at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University, to which he returned after winning a European integration grant. In his work he pursues bold theories of the "mortality" of the proton, the basic building block of matter. His work could contribute to a new understanding of the development of the universe, its laws and the conditions that prevailed just after its birth.
