In a new episode of the podcast, Ondřej Pejcha covers the entire universe: from why the Sun shines, through the energy and lifespan of stars, to the possibilities for humanity in 4.5 billion years. The laureate of the Neuron Award for physics was a guest on our partner podcast Brain We Are.

The Life, Death and Mystery of Stars is the title of the new episode with this award-winning astrophysicist. Ondřej Pejcha received the Neuron Award 2019 for significantly enriching our current knowledge of the behaviour of supernovae and of other stellar deaths and transformations. He holds a prestigious ERC grant and is among the most talented astrophysicists in the Czech Republic.

He proves it as a podcast guest too. Ondřej Pejcha presents astrophysics as a field that studies the past in order to predict the future — over a span of millions and billions of years.

In the podcast he devotes most attention to his own specialisation and describes stars as constantly changing spaces — thanks to chemical composition, energy or gravitational waves — and goes on to explain in detail what a red dwarf and a white giant are.
