This year too we will make a Junior Scientific Dream come true

"My sister had an illness that not even the doctors could identify. So I told myself I would try to find out myself."

That is how the story of Claudia Haová began — a student at the Prof. Jan Patočka Grammar School in Prague who developed an artificial intelligence model for diagnosing fungal skin diseases on her own.

Her sister suffered from a skin condition that even the specialists could not deal with. So Claudia decided to try herself. Without a laboratory, without a team, with nothing but the internet, ChatGPT and her own curiosity. The result? A model that already achieves more than 70% accuracy.

Claudia presented her project "FungiGPT" at the 14th Junior Science Conference, where we selected her as one of the exceptional talents we support every year by making a junior scientific dream come true.

When we support young talents like Claudia, we are placing our faith in the idea that innovation can grow even in an environment with limited resources, and that one student's idea can have a real impact on diagnosing disease.

Claudia will receive from us the chance to develop and complete her project at the research institution of a Neuron Award laureate. She will gain better computing power, more suitable software and a broader dataset. And above all mentoring from the Czech Republic's leading figures in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

We believe that investing in young talent is an investment in the future of the whole Czech Republic.
