This year we will present the Neuron Awards in three categories:
The Neuron Award — we will give the award to a significant Czech scientist working at home or abroad who through their discovery or long-term work has fundamentally contributed to the development of science, strengthened the name of the Czech Republic and is a model and inspiration for other members of the scientific community. The Neuron Award comes with a financial award of CZK 1,500,000 and an international scientific board takes part in selecting the laureates.
The Neuron Award for promising scientists — we will give the award to Czech scientists for their results so far and as encouragement for further work; the condition is having obtained a PhD no more than 10 years before the day the Neuron Awards are announced. The Neuron Award for promising scientists comes with a financial award of CZK 500,000 and the scientific board decides on it in seven fields — mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, computer science and social sciences.
The Neuron Award for connecting science and business — the award goes to scientists and economists who have carried out an exceptional scientific transfer — their discovery or invention has moved from basic research to commercial use. The Neuron Award for connecting science and business is given by the Neuron board; the reward for the laureates is the possibility of mentoring cooperation, media coverage and connection with Neuron's business community.
Candidates for the Neuron Award are nominated by scientific, research and academic staff or representatives of research organisations; in the case of the Neuron Award for connecting science and business also by representatives of commercial entities and direct investors. A scientist may not nominate themselves for the Neuron Award. Nominations close on 31 March 2022.
