Science as the fuel of modern business
We invite you to a meeting that will introduce you to science in the area of basic research and its influence on the development of enterprise.
What impact do the findings of basic research have on innovation in business? Can a business plan be built on the results of basic research? How can the research and development of companies be effectively connected with the latest scientific findings? The best Czech scientists — Neuron Award laureates — will present their research to the public, from which the commercial sector can draw inspiration and real findings for its growth. The aim of the conference is to inspire participants to connect the two worlds of science and enterprise more deeply. Only through active cooperation can they find effective innovative solutions that move our whole society forward.

Every day we make dozens of decisions that affect us, those around us and our business. We believe they are the best ones. But is that true? How much are we limited in our decisions by the settings of society, of institutions and our own, and is it within human power to identify all the factors that influence the decision-making process? The answer is brought by modern findings from the field of behavioural economics, law and others, which will enrich your personal and working life.

Can one molecule change a whole industry? Modern nanomaterials have properties previously undreamed of. Technological progress depends on new findings from the most basic level of matter. Companies that have this knowledge at their disposal are then set straight for global success.

Just as the telescope, the microscope and the camera once multiplied the capacities of sight, computers are now advancing our capacities for processing enormous quantities of information. Can we imagine the possibilities this brings us and our business, and can we grasp them properly in the Czech Republic? Is there a boundary in computer science between research and its application on the market, and if so, where does it lie?

12:10 – 13:00 — Block IV: A panel discussion from various scientific angles on the theme The mobility of the future
The discussion will be devoted to the future of mobility in the light of new technologies and trends such as autonomous vehicles. It will address the optimisation of infrastructure, ways of storing energy, the influence of electric cars on the capacity requirements of the electricity grid, new possibilities for transferring people and goods and their social impacts, and so on.
