Ask the scientists! About everything that interests you
In connection with the current coronavirus pandemic, our attention is perhaps turning more than ever before to scientists across all fields who, it seems, may be the only ones able to come up with a solution to the present situation. Is the age of the scientists arriving? We are convinced that it is.
We gave you the chance to ask the best Czech scientists directly about what interests you and about what you got no answers to in the media explosion of recent weeks. You asked the scientists about everything on your mind, and not only in the context of the current situation. One by one we put you in touch with experts across the fields.
How did it work?
On our Facebook profile we always published a call to put questions to a particular scientist. You then posted your questions in the comments directly under the current post with that scientist. You can read the scientists' answers below (click on the photo of the scientist).
COMPLETED — Ask the scientists: the sociologist Lucie Kalousová of the University of California
Lucie Kalousová studies the relationships between social inequalities and the health of the population. On our FB page you asked Lucie how the level of income, the level of education or even the neighbourhood we live in can influence population health.
Read the answers of Lucie Kalousová in an interview you created yourselves with your questions.

COMPLETED — Ask the scientists: the artificial intelligence expert Tomáš Mikolov
Is the current situation in the world an opportunity to speed up the digitalisation of industry and involve artificial intelligence more? How can artificial intelligence help in the fight against the pandemic, and how is it already helping?
You asked the artificial intelligence expert and Neuron Award laureate Tomáš Mikolov about everything that interests you in the field of artificial intelligence, computers or, say, the current crisis on our Facebook.

COMPLETED — Ask the scientists: the behavioural economist Filip Matějka
What are the possible scenarios for coping with the economic impacts of the current crisis? How are we managing the situation and what should we prepare for in the coming weeks and months? What is behavioural economics about, and can its findings make decision-making easier for us in everyday life too?
