Ostrava as a new centre of international biomedicine?

Michal Šimíček, holder of the 2019 Neuron Award for young promising scientists in medicine, was honoured for his high level of expertise in research into carcinogenic processes and their drug resistance. What is more, the scientific board recognised his courage in returning from world-class institutions to his native Ostrava and founding a top biomedical centre there. Thanks to him the Ostrava institution may soon become a significant point on the map of international biomedical research.
