Patron Dědek's Neuron discovered a Mayan city and a giant thermal lake

Dalibor Dědek, founder of the company Jablotron, has given hundreds of millions of crowns to charity. He also looks after his employees in exemplary fashion; as a Christmas gift they received a bonus of CZK 300,000 and a 10% share in the company. His patronage covers a wide range of fields.

One of them is a care home for the elderly. It was built eight years ago on the site of the former Bižuterie works. Nearby he then opened a primary school as well. "We originally wanted a technical lyceum, but we did not manage it, even though we had the support of the Liberec Region and the ministry. We ran into a lack of understanding from others and told ourselves that sometimes there is no point banging your head against a wall.

Our aim was to try to connect two different worlds by founding a primary school, and we succeeded. For the grandmothers and grandfathers the presence of schoolchildren is a joy, and the children in turn are grateful for the attention; adults tend to overlook them rather than notice them. It is common to see them sitting on a bench talking together. It is something I am proud of." That is how Dalibor Dědek assesses this rarely seen initiative.
