Without innovation and progress the Czech economy cannot move forward. On that everyone agrees. While government spending on science and research has been falling as a share of GDP in recent years, private companies are sending more money into the field. And it is not only investment in their own research. The Czech business elite also supports top-class science directly.
Through the Neuron Foundation alone, donors from among Czech entrepreneurs and investors have already sent more than CZK 250 million in support of science and research.
This money goes, for instance, to unique expeditions that produce discoveries of international significance, supports and honours leading scientists, and also helps young researchers across disciplines get started.
