Water and civilisation was the theme of the June Neuron Club

This week another regular gathering of our fund's patrons and Czech scientists took place within the Neuron Club. The theme was Water and civilisation.

Our invitation to the discussion was accepted by leading Czech experts on water: the hydrogeologist Zbyněk Hrkal, the naturalist Jan Pokorný and Petr Kubala, director of the Vltava River Basin Authority. They drew attention, for instance, to the evaporation of water, which contributes to deepening drought, and to the lack of organic matter in agricultural soil, which worsens the landscape's failure to retain moisture. In conclusion they agreed that it is precisely scientists and their findings that can help our society find long-term, effective and sustainable solutions in managing water. Thank you for a very interesting debate! The host was the Egyptologist Miroslav Bárta.

The Neuron Club

The Neuron Clubs are regular gatherings of top Czech scientists and of the fund's patrons and partners. These closed meetings create an ideal environment for connecting the worlds of science and business and for generating innovative ideas. The Neuron Clubs are held about four times a year and bring together two dozen guests from across scientific and business fields. Each meeting is always framed by a specific discussion topic, which speakers from among scientists and businesspeople discuss openly with the assembled guests. There is no equivalent in the Czech Republic to a platform like the Neuron Club.
