We are presenting the Neuron Expedition project at AFO in Olomouc
25 April 2018
The competition for the best scientific expedition project, with a main prize of up to 1,000,000 crowns, will be ceremonially launched as part of a programme block presenting the Neuron Expeditions as captured on film. This year again we are supporting AFO, the International Festival of Science Documentary Films in Olomouc.
In the three years since they were launched, the Neuron Expeditions have won the favour not only of researchers but of the public too. Their outputs chart expeditions all over the world, for instance from the rainforests of Congo, unexplored parts of the Amazon, the mountains of Uganda and Papua New Guinea. Scientists in the field are filling important gaps in scientific research — the disappearance of tropical glaciers, mapping the bottom of the Hranice Abyss, the influence of globalisation on the life of the "rich poor" or the alternative treatment of depression with the hallucinogenic substance ayahuasca; other expeditions set off in search of unknown animal species.
We will present two of the expeditions on Friday 27 April at 5:30 p.m. in the Innogy hall. We will show the audience several clips from the journeys to Congo and Venezuela and Ondřej Cihlář will interview their protagonists. And rest assured, it will not be boring!
We look forward to seeing you in Olomouc!
