The largest team physics competition for secondary school students invites you to another edition. Registration is open until 4 February 2022 and the competition takes place on 11 February in Prague. The Neuron Foundation is the general partner of Fyziklání and its contribution will be used for participants' accommodation and venue hire.

"The cooperation between the Neuron Foundation and the FYKOS group and their Fyziklání came about at Lenka Zdeborová's instigation. Last year's laureate of the Neuron Award for promising young scientists in physics connects her first interest in science precisely with FYKOS, which significantly helped her further career. She therefore decided to give the financial reward attached to the Neuron Award to young physicists, and we at Neuron are glad to grant her wish — a focus on young scientists, supporting and inspiring them, is one of the foundation's missions," says Monika Vondráková, chair of the board of the Neuron Foundation.

Fyziklání is a team physics competition for secondary school students interested in physics and in solving interesting problems. Teams of up to five may be made up of students from up to two schools. Their task is to solve as many of the prepared problems as possible within a time limit of three hours. Every team starts with the same seven problems and receives a new, often harder problem for each one solved. Practically any secondary school student, or curious primary school pupil, can take part. Since 2018 it has also been possible to compete in English, so Fyziklání is open to teams from outside the Czech Republic and Slovakia too.

The Fyziklání competition is announced by the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University and co-announced by the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports. Its general partner is the Neuron Foundation. The competition's organisers are mainly students of the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics who are members of the student group FYKOS (the physics correspondence seminar) and have extensive experience of organising similar events. During the school year FYKOS also runs an online version of the competition, Fyziklání Online; besides that it organises camps for the best solvers of the physics correspondence seminar, excursions and other events.

This year's Fyziklání takes place on 11 February 2022 at the PVA Letňany exhibition centre in Prague, with up to 200 teams expected. You, your students or your children could be in one of them.
