Why did you decide to support Czech scientists through the Neuron fund?

We like Neuron's work and we believe it will handle the money for scientists well and promote their
work well.

Why do you think the role of science and scientists is essential for society?

Without science there is no progress. The world is changing very fast and we need to be able to look
decades ahead through science and prepare for the world our children and grandchildren will live in.
They will not have it easy.

LIKO-S prides itself on innovation and technology. Why should companies invest their energy in

innovation and technology?

Business is about solving everyday problems. And if you want to keep your sanity, you need to spice
that routine up with something enjoyable. That is exactly what innovation is. It turns business into
an intellectual adventure that improves the soul. If a company is to play an important part in the
personal growth of its employees, then it has to innovate. Otherwise it is a grey routine for making
money that grinds people down, and people only think that they are thinking.

Your family company is among the successful Czech firms. What would be your first piece of advice

to families considering starting a family business?

Do business with your family, and do it in a way that makes the company the thing that binds your
family together. That way you will raise the quality of your family relationships for generations to
come. But be aware that although it is a good path, it is not an easy one.

Name three values or qualities you consider essential in business.

Money is not the purpose of business; the purpose is service to society, and money determines the
extent of that service.

Tenacity is the most important quality. Tenacity is perseverance and passion.

Freedom is the most important condition for successful business. It has to be pursued continuously.
