Co-founder of Avast. He has been a patron of the Neuron Endowment Fund since 2017 and one of the Neuron Founders since 2018.
Eduard Kučera is one of the founders of Avast, which helps more than 400 million people around the world protect themselves against computer viruses. Thanks to his support we were able to open a seventh field in January 2017 — computer science.
Eduard Kučera studied physical electronics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University. He then worked at the Research Institute of Mathematical Machines on the development of printers. He went into business in computing with his partner Pavel Baudiš as early as 1988. In 1991 the two founded AVAST Software, whose best-known product is the Avast anti-malware solution.
In 2009 Eduard Kučera received the Entrepreneur of the Year award. In 2013 he received the Responsible Leader award for founding the AVAST Foundation, which helps people with various difficulties to make their own decisions freely and to be part of a community that supports one another. The company contributes 2.5 per cent of its gross profit to it.
