We have chosen the first Neuron Award

On Thursday 21 April the expert board of the Neuron Endowment Fund met to determine this year's laureate of the Neuron Award for connecting science and business. The name of the project that transfers the results of basic research to commercial application in an exceptional way will be revealed at the Neuron Awards ceremony.

The new laureate was decided by Martin Fusek, director of IOCB Prague, and the investor Václav Novák, both also Neuron Founders; another vote belonged to our supporter Jaroslav Řasa.

"Scientific transfer has a long tradition in the Czech Republic, but compared with the rest of the world it has catching up to do," says Monika Vondráková, chair of the administrative board of the Neuron Endowment Fund. "That is why for the second time we will give a joint award to a scientist, a transfer specialist and an economist. We want to draw the public's attention to an exceptional project and inspire others."

The next board of the Neuron Endowment Fund will meet at the end of May to deal with the nominations for the main Neuron Award and the Neuron Awards for promising scientists and to confirm this year's laureates. We will present the prestigious awards to outstanding scientists during the gala evening in the autumn.
