Neuron Impuls holder Jiruška publishes in the prestigious journal Nature Neuroscience

In his work, Dr Přemysl Jiruška focuses on the search for the mechanisms behind the emergence of epileptic seizures. Thanks in part to a Neuron Impuls he was able to build mathematical models of the brain that revealed hitherto unknown rules governing the emergence of epileptic seizures. He revealed the existence of what is called the principle of critical slowing down in the epileptic brain. It assumes that a seizure is preceded by a gradual loss of stability and resilience in the brain, which step by step becomes far more prone to seizures. He recently published his ground-breaking research in the prestigious Nature Neuroscience, where you can read it. This discovery has also brought experts closer to the possibility of predicting the risk of seizures, by analogy with forecasting extreme weather events. We are proud that we could support another wonderful piece of scientific work! Read more in the interview.
