The Expedition Neuron documentary won the film festival's Grand Prix

The International Festival of Outdoor Films awarded its main prize to the documentary The Rainforest of Tomorrow by the director Michal Gálik, about the Neuron Expedition Dzamba Ya Lobi. In Africa, scientists from the Faculty of Environmental Sciences of the Czech University of Life Sciences worked on research into endangered animals and on conservation activities.
The team of Tomáš Jůnek (concept and camera) from the department of ecology, in cooperation with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), monitors populations of wild animals in as yet unexplored areas of the rainforests of the Congo Basin. The project and the film came about thanks to the support of the Neuron Foundation and the Faculty of Environmental Sciences of the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague.
The gala announcement of the best films and the presentation of prizes to the winners took place in Ostrava with the participation of figures from the worlds of sport and documentary film-making — the prizes were presented by the ultra Ironman Jurij Tarča, the traveller, polar explorer and writer Petr Horký and one of our most successful mountaineers, Marek Holeček. The main prize was announced by the director of TV NOE and film director Leoš Ryška.
